Marc Jacobs

Spring 12

The look A mixture of influences, best summed up as the 1920s given the futuristic treatment.
Key pieces Tiered skirts and dresses in translucent fabrics, and boxy three quarter-sleeve jackets either cropped or cut to the waist. High-shine fabrics created the futuristic mood, as shirts and dresses were wrapped in clear and bottle green plastic coatings. Gingham prints were worked into techno fabrics on shirts.
Colours An eclectic mix of iridescent neutrals mixed with grey, bottle green, peppermint and yellow.
Commercial appeal The biggest influence Marc Jacobs is likely to have on spring 12 is via his attention to high-shine and techno fabrics. The flapper-style dresses were echoed more conventionally at Ralph Lauren but the two could influence a heavy dose of 1920s silhouettes on the high street.
