Michael Kors

Spring 11

The look A relaxed holiday feel, in the form of swimwear and tactile knits, inspired Michael Kors. Oversized knitwear had a ‘borrowed from the boyfriend’ feel.

Key pieces Trench coats were worn loosely and slightly oversized, sometimes with wide sleeves cropped at the elbow. Lightweight knitted tops had roll necks and loose-fitting, wide-leg trousers sat on the hip. Chunky knitwear came as jumper dresses or cardigans worn open over trousers. Textured skirts were high-waisted and fell to the knee.

Colours The white and beige mirrored many other shows at New York. Khaki green, violet and yolk yellow brightened the palette.

Commercial appeal This was a commercially viable collection with the most trend-worthy pieces sure to be the trench coats and the textured skirts. Wide-leg trousers will also have wide appeal and look more directional when teamed with cropped knitted tops.
