Milan Fashion Week: Dolce & Gabbana

After three fashion weeks in three cities, you could have forgiven a tired critic for losing track of their location.

In this sense, Dolce & Gabbana provided a service - ‘Italy!’ their collection cried. Lest we forgot since last season, the collection had more references to Italian heritage than a Peroni ad, from the printed frescos to the religious symbolism to the bold colours.

At its heart, however, interesting shapes led to some very wearable pieces. From billowy sleeves on boxy, printed shifts, to 1950s-esque swing coats and two-piece dress suits, there was plenty that could see commercial success while remaining very much classic Dolce & Gabbana.

In short Viva Italia! If it was Dolce you wanted, it was Dolce you got.
