Milan Fashion Week: Giorgio Armani

The spring 13 offering from Mr Armani was cosmic and light years ahead of his autumn 12 show.

Where the designer referenced a moon-lit ocean for spring 12, he now turned his gaze skyward to the source of the glow, with shimmery grey satins, more sci-fi shapes and patterns.

It was very much cleaner and more focused – no fuss with silhouettes here – as the Italian let his glimmering fabrics shine. But Armani does love a tricky, superfluous flourish: joining the rogues’ gallery of awkward hats and clutches (spring 12) and the fedora/huge corsage combos (autumn 12) were his peculiar and unnecessary curved fascinators.

In short A more refined Armani collection that represents a good improvement.
