Milan Fashion Week: Giorgio Armani

Mr Armani took centre stage at last week’s Oscars, decking out three of the Best Actress nominees in stunning evening gowns.

In contrast, in Milan he explored his signature androgynous take on glamour. Separates were key as usual, with mannish wide-leg or slim trousers teamed with every type of jacket, all finished with heavy-handed spherical buttons, contrast pocket flaps or elaborate lapels, layered over fussy tops and blouses in trademark black, white, navy and grey. For evening there were fun jumpsuits and an array of dresses.

In short Show notes called the collection “decidedly avant garde” but it felt like Armani tried a little too hard to fix up a collection of signatures.
