If the resort pieces Miuccia Prada presented among her spring 13 menswear collections in June were anything to go by, we were never in for anything outlandish with her latest womenswear show.
But the opening run of nine consecutive all-black looks (save for the footwear) was a statement of intent, and in stark contrast to the bright shades elsewhere. There was something hypnotic about the repetition as Prada reworked similar silhouettes and altered the naive flower motif. The simplicity of shape and line of resort was there but given texture with the introduction of astrakhan and satin.
In short Ever one for something off-piste, Prada’s blackathon will be unlikely to influence wider trends.
