Milan Fashion Week: Prada

Miuccia’s autumn 13 Prada woman was a glamorous film noir heroine caught making a quick getaway, all dishevelled elegance and still-wet hair.

Canny Prada fans will have spotted greatest hits revisited here, and while these retro cinematic references might have lent an old-fashioned glamour, the Prada magic made house signatures and vintage references all strikingly fresh. The models clutched oversized bags and stomped in trademark heavy heels, with off-the-shoulder dresses belted at the waist and falling on the knee but slipping off shoulders, thrown-over T-shirts and hastily buttoned cardigans. The wonkiness continued as tumbling asymmetric hemlines on dresses and skirt suits, occasionally flecked with embroidery. Mundane tweeds and ginghams came vamped up with colourful leather, thick ribbed hems and fur, dashed on heavy cuffs or covering great coats.

In short Dramatic undone glamour, each piece as covetable as the last. She’s done it again.
