Milan Fashion Week: Versace

The majority of Donatella Versace’s spring 13 collection evoked a feeling of carefree abandon which, while not a huge departure for the label, felt less glam, less done-up than her usual look.

Tousled hair fell on the shoulders of slip dresses, cropped tops and relaxed blouses set against a palette that punctuated soft pastel shades in the tie-dyed pieces with solid black lace and glossy leather. Some of the pieces were barely there with slices, slashed necklines and flashes of skin beneath lace – a tactic that conveyed the Versace sexiness despite the less polished overall effect.

In short The closing gowns aside, this was less shiny than Versace’s typical fare and all the better for it.
