Milan Menswear AW13: Dolce & Gabbana

While not exactly an act of God, this collection had more than a touch of the religious about it, as iconography, tapestries and even a church print made it onto the catwalk.

The most obvious communication of the theme was the Madonna graphic (not her with the pointy bras - the other one), but the congregation might have also picked up on the lace trims and voluminous sleeves nodding to the look. The newly crowned billionaire design duo weren’t exactly pinching from the collection plate to pay for the fabrics, as velvet and fur featured alongside heavily embroidered and beaded pieces.

In short The religiousness had a playful kitschness to it, but beyond the smart suits little will translate to other market levels.
