Frida Giannini’s Gucci man is getting more sophisticated and comfortable with himself every season.
For this collection, Giannini touched on key trends (roll-neck knitwear, coloured outerwear, riffs on the check, even a dash of orange), but in a way that will speak to the Gucci menswear customer: luxe trims, dramatic, fluid coats and military-inspired shapes and buttons were on the money. But it was the colour that was so satisfying: where Prada was saturated, Gucci went for mid-tones (save for the orange) as grassy green, powder blue and a sprinkling of muted mustard added a touch of class to the collection.
In short An eminently wearable collection with something for everyone. Whether it’ll get shoppers excited remains to be seen.
