Milan Menswear AW13: Jil Sander

Sander took her clean lines and fuss-free detailing beyond the limits of strict minimalism with a collection that retained a simplicity while avoiding being plain.

Long-line dbs and pea coats prevailed, but were saved from ordinariness by a sympathetic and luxury-looking application of an oversized tonal check here, a contrast windowpane plaid there, some with detachable stand-up collars. Texturally it was interesting too, as Sander played with pony hair, wool and fur while the season’s pinstripe trend popped up across tailoring and sleeveless tops alike.

In short A classy outing from Sander, whose clever reworking of traditional styles and shapes could be influential beyond the label’s stockists.
