Burberry Prorsum, Spring 13
Christopher Bailey always offers enough newness to be fresh and interesting, but always with clear Burberry handwriting. The move on this season was the sweet-wrapper metallics, in shiny blues, limes, fuchsia and orange. These appeared on collars or covered shirts, cardigans, jackets and trousers. There were also prints inspired by the early 20th-century Bloomsbury Group of artists. Trademark outerwear came as drop-shouldered bulky bombers, alongside oversized parkas, multi-pocket safari jackets and boxy overcoats.
In short Slim suits and interesting outerwear wrapped up in metallic foils. The bomber is sure to be a winner but high-shine metallics might be a tough sell.
