Versace, Spring 13
Dontella Versace introduced us to Roman gladiators and Greek gods, complete with rippling muscles and gold wrestling belts. A steamy start introduced the new underwear and swimwear lines swathed in satin robes. Next came uber-masculine tailoring featuring wide, pumped-up shoulders. Db and sb styles came as trouser and short suit options, some as sleeveless versions in matt or sheen finishes or covered in graphic geometric prints. The metallics spotted at Burberry appeared again here as shirts, ties and lightweight outerwear.
In short Beneath the performance and beyond the tanned and toned bodies of the gladiators was a collection of classic masculine tailoring given a modern spin.
