Missoni

Spring 11

The look Missoni plundered the archives, honing in on its 1970s signature era, to come up with a series of loose-fit boho knits shown with wide-brim hats and neck scarves. Tribal and Peruvian influences also made a showing.

Key pieces Orange, turquoise and yellows worked with purples, maroon and brown in diamond and zig-zag patterned knitwear. Loose-fitting cropped tops and low-slung skirts exposed midriffs.

Commercial appeal A knit revival could be on the cards, which is good news for Missoni. Challenging silhouettes and a gaudy palette took away from the collection’s commerciality. The vibrant colours at least stood out from spring 11’s neutral palette.

Footwear and accessories Handbags were carried in clear plastic bags displaying the Missoni logo and flat sandals had thick fabric ties around the ankle.
