Missoni

Missoni’s silhouette was loose and oversized, with an obvious 1970s influence.

The look With its pastel hues, one could be forgiven for thinking Missoni’s autumn 11 collection was for spring, but the heavy-knit jumpers, wide-leg trousers and long, sweeping coats said otherwise. Pattern was important as snakeskin, checks, florals and dip-dying all featured.

Key pieces Missoni’s silhouette was loose and oversized, with an obvious 1970s influence. Sleeves on jumpers hung over the hands of models, and jumpers were casually layered over knitted maxi dresses and skirts. Coloured fur and feathers were seen on outerwear.

Commercial appeal The graduation technique used on knitwear looked fresh and in pastel colours was not overpowering. The maxi dresses will be the most wearable, while a knitted, two-piece wide-leg trouser suit had directional appeal.
