Missoni

Autumn 12

Missoni went down to the woods for autumn 12, with a snugly cocooning collection inspired by nature – think wood, fur, stone and moss on sophisticated knee-length dresses and smartly tailored coats. Cosy textures were created by layering leather, fur, ponyskin and chunky knits that cocooned and wrapped around the body, layered over contrastingly smooth latex rollnecks that lent a strange modern twist. Wrap-around knit boleros worked around the arms like weaving tree trunks, an embellished dress strewn with sequins looked like falling pine needles, a pencil skirt came covered in spreading mould and moss-like patterns and ombré knit effects worked like sedimentary rock formations. Angela Missoni took the theme and executed it well, but ran and ran with it, creating a concept that was clear but not very concise – a tighter edit was called for.
