Autumn 12

Moschino wanted to add the fun to a generally dark and sobering Milan week, complete with quilted bum bags, the obligatory Moschino cowboy hat and a marching band as the soundtrack to the collection. The silhouette had something of the 1960s about it with neat collars, Peter Pan-style at times, mini shift dresses and empire line belted coats. To add to the party the colour was vivid with primary yellows, reds and blues set off with black and white. While fabrics weren’t overtly technical, with lots of leather, wool and cotton mixes featuring, texture was added via quilting, furs and layered fabrics. The high necklines and demure shapes were of course all executed in the Moschino handwriting of bright gold buttons on quilted swing jackets and plenty of oversized ruffles and bows, to keep the fun-loving Moschino girl sweet for autumn.
