Mugler

Creative director Nicola Formichetti referenced early Mugler and a cyber punk direction.

The look In the most anticipated event of the Paris Fashion Week schedule, Lady Gaga took to the Mugler catwalk in immense platform heels and smoking a cigarette, dressed in barely-there sheer fabrics, as creative director Nicola Formichetti referenced early Mugler and a cyber punk direction.

Key pieces A plunging black suit jacket was cut to reveal a heaving bosom with pitched shoulders, reminiscent of autumn 09 Balmain, but also of early Mugler. A white column dress with similar horn-like shoulder constructions also caught the eye, as did an Yves Klein-style blue knitted dress with matching shiny tights.

Commercial appeal This show was about Formichetti resurrecting Mugler and taking it to a new audience with the help of a pop star. The horn-like shapes and highlighted shoulders will catch on by proxy, likely in the Far East.
