New York Fashion Week: 3.1 Phillip Lim

Geological structures inspired Phillip Lim’s spring 14 collection, as the designer took rock formations and made them feminine.

Lim employed geode patterns as intricately embroidered organza and almost psychedelic swirly shapes on simple pants and drop-shoulder short jackets. Silhouettes were sporty and sleeveless, and where sleeves were used they were angular or capped. Clearly a man with sales in mind, Lim offered plenty of separates across a collection that tapped into the see-through trend with meshes and voiles and employed a palette full of perky pink, French mustard, azure blue and black on a base of white.
