New York Fashion Week: Accessories

Spotlight on Accessories.

Slouchy, deconstructed leather bags make for a nice departure from some of the more angular shapes we’ve seen in recent seasons. Rag & Bone showed pastel styles, while Reed Krakoff’s came in shades of taupe and stone.

Emphasising the wearability underpinning many of the New York collections, flat shoes were the order of the day, from loafers at The Row and 3.1 Phillip Lim, to sneakers at Y-3 and Grecian sandals at Anna Sui.

A big trend with a micro twist saw miniature bags populating the runway, from scaled-down satchels at Ralph Lauren, to tiny holdalls at Victoria Beckham. Likely to be popular for the fun factor, if not the practicality.

Street and sportswear also influenced footwear, as high fashion met performancewear. Highlights included ponyskin plimsolls at Marc Jacobs and this plimsoll-heel hybrid meets platform by Alexander Wang.
