New York Fashion Week: Proenza Schouler

Hot on the heels of the opening of the first Proenza Schouler store, New York design darlings Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez struck gold again with a stellar spring 13 collection.

Simple shapes were reworked with collaged lashings of snakeskin and patchworked perforated leather, creating print-like finishes out of contrast fabrics. Sleeveless dresses were key in soft-fit and flare silhouettes and halternecks, sometimes with odd photo prints of swimming pools and crowd scenes stitched in slices across the body. Oversized outerwear also stood out, as big collarless or boxy sleeveless biker styles.

In short Downtown cool collaged up in a luxe mismatch of skins and prints. It was busy and bold but beautiful too.
