“Los Angeles” was all Kate and Laura Mulleavy would give away about a collection that confounded most onlookers.

Very current no doubt, there was more than a hint of boisterous teenager/Miley Cyrus about what the design duo showed, but it came off as rather undesirable. Sure, looking beyond the styling, there were occasional down-to-earth pieces such as an off-the-shoulder monochrome mohair knit, Lower East Side-style silk checked blouse and the simpler pumped-shoulder tuxedo jackets. But overall it was far too fussy, with the Wild West fringing, scorpion motifs and frilled skirts posing the question, ‘Who wants to look like this?’
