Oscar de la Renta

The look Upper East Side New York meets red carpet glamour.

Key pieces In between the ballgowns that opened and closed the show there was an abundance of lace, crochet, feathers and the occasional fur. A hitched silk taffeta ballgown with delicate lace top stood out, while a strapless waisted gown with yellow and green flowers embroidered on a white base summed up the old-school glamour and nodded to spring.

Colours Chartreuse and poppy red as well as a spattering of electric blue, rose pink and green.

Commercial appeal It was the floor-sweeping dresses that created drama and they will be dead certs for the red carpet. However, the tweed cardigan jackets worn with wide-cut trousers or on-the-knee skirts were equally well executed, and the bright tweed and chartreuse blouse updated the look.
