Paris Couture Fashion Week: Chanel

“Beyond simple” is what Karl Lagerfeld called his latest couture look for Chanel with the designer taking his spring 11 collection back to basics.

Chanel’s couture catwalk featured chic daytime looks, pairing pastel pink and pale blue slim-cut jeans with beaded T-shirts and simple jackets. Details including bows and delicate buttons added an intricate and feminine touch.

Eveningwear showcased tunics, T-shirts and long sweeping skirts many of which were embroidered with shimmering beads, crystals and woven with metallic threads. Lagerfeld’s palette was pretty in pink, with varying shades of pastel pinks and nude.

Pink was regularly contrasted against black pieces, with black ribbon chokers and black pointed flat shoes finished many an outfit in the collection.
