Paris Fashion Week: Balenciaga

Given that so much emphasis was placed on Alexander Wang’s youth when it was announced he was to take the helm of Balenciaga, it was interesting to see that his first collection was so grown-up.

Wang’s ability to create truly wearable pieces came through in his elegant collection. Though somewhat restrained,it exhibited enough interest via sporty plays with shapes and cracked marble fabrics to suggest Wang is filtering his own personality into the brand. But this will be a slow process, as he takes the time to learn the Balenciaga heritage and create products for the house’s customer, not his own.

In short A cracking show to build on as Wang didn’t try to run before he can walk.
