Paris Fashion Week: Chanel

Chanel treated Paris to a no expenses spared show yesterday featuring a sculpted iceberg which took the elaborate nature of Chanel’s catwalk settings to new heights.

A winter wonderland blanketed the Grand Palais in Paris for the Chanel show complete with the imported a 28ft carved ice block.

Models strode down the catwalk in shaggy, polar bear-style coats in faux fur or, as creative director Karl Lagerfeld chose to put it,”fantasy fur”.

The fuzzy faux fur was everywhere on trousers, boots and skirts. When the fur didn’t cover completely, it was trimmed on the sleeves and hems of jackets and dresses.

Aside from the polar bear look, which may not be to everyone’s taste, there were plenty of wearable pieces such as a white angora jumper dress, and chocolate leather jacket with fur trim.

Fur embroideries will translate to commercial trends and no doubt so will kitsch ice jewellery and accessories seen with refrigerated ice-cube tray style CC logo on their iconic quilted bags.
