Paris Menswear: Dior Homme

It seems Kris Van Assche has got the blues.

The navy blues, to be specific, as he presented an entire show in homage to the hue. Using the colour in its traditional context (and cementing some of the season’s key trends in the process), the collection was a strict uniform of military-inspired gold-button blazers and nautical striped jumpers. Bomber jackets provided a sporty feel and bright red laces added pep to dark brogues, but otherwise there was little divergence from the overall theme.

In short Van Assche’s navy blue vision may not constitute the most exciting collection of the season, but it was certainly one of the most wearable and a favourite among buyers at last month’s Pitti Uomo. With clever merchandising, navy sells.
