Preen by Thornton Bregazzi

Autumn 12

The masters of print, Preen led us down the garden path this season with floral and butterfly screen prints decorating sheath dresses and simple high-neck blouses. Sheer panelling was also important on sleeves, and peeking out behind prints on skirts, while peplums were seen on tops, skirts and coats. Orange and lime green popped against crisp white, kicking off the citrus palette that led into a smattering of mustard and midnight blue. Interesting details included the contrast cuffs on sleeves and collars, with opposing colours on the sides of cigarette trousers. Patterned jumpers and printed skirts mixed foliage with a reworked houndstooth design. The colourful palette worked better than the muted greys, successfully pulling off feminine and flattering styles that are sure to have commercial appeal.
