Ralph Lauren

Spring 11

The look Life on the ranch was the inspiration behind the Ralph Lauren spring 11 show. Fringing was everywhere, from the sleeves of jackets and the outside of trouser legs to tiered fringing on skirts.

Key pieces Separates dominated, with trousers and shorts paired with ruffled blouses and Victorian-style lace necklines. Evening gowns swept the floor with ruffled hemlines, while a strapless metallic gold dress fastened with the ubiquitous concho belt stood out.

Colours Tan, suede and leather were used throughout and the tough fabrics contrasted with delicate cream and white lace.

Commercial appeal Being the commercial brand it is, Ralph Lauren may have revived the Wild West as a mainstream trend for spring 11. Pick of the trends were the embellished evening skirts paired with simple white shirts and tassel details on jackets.
