Ralph Lauren

The look Ralph Lauren showcased an oriental-inspired collection but gave it a 1920s twist with cloche hats and art deco-inspired embroidery. The black and white palette showed only flashes of jade green and crimson red. Silhouettes were sexy and sophisticated as tailored trousers and high-waisted pencil skirts were teamed with billowing blouses.

Key pieces A high-neck dress with a sheer panel across the shoulder and art deco beading was key, as was a db suit with a high-shine patina, and a jade green, mandarin-collar dress.

Commercial appeal A master of commerciality, Ralph Lauren delivered a strong collection which touched on - but wasn’t engulfed by - the oriental theme. Mandarin dresses in silk will translate to the high street and the wet-look fabrics will shine come autumn 11.
