Ralph Lauren

Autumn 12

Imagine a lavish weekend sojourn at a country pile and you’re some way to understanding the silver fox’s autumn 12 collection. It was all very typically Ralph Lauren (if it ain’t broke and all that) but while we were never going to be blown away by an uncharacteristic departure, there were still some interesting surprises along the way. Having gone heavy on heritage with the opening few looks, we were made to rethink the setting with the addition of leopard trims and one standout jacket. As the story progressed, neat country gent tailored tweed jackets paired with voluminous trousers for the day moved towards top hats and canes for the night, a useful segue into a Downton Abbey-esque run of both mannish cardies and blazers and lustrous antique gold and bronze embroidered or embellished dresses.
