Stella McCartney

Spring 12

The look A mishmash of fabrics and print with a soft versus hard approach.

Key pieces McCartney trod the line well between being feminine but not overly girly, with swirl effect edges softly trimming dresses. Mesh details prevented the collection from being too far removed from McCartney’s handwriting and gave it a sporty athleticism. Paisley prints were another key trend for spring worked into pyjama trousers sets, giving a nod to the lounge suits of the 1960s.

Colours Cobalt and sky blue, meadow green, stingray grey, terracotta and white made for a mixed palette.

Commercial appeal The pyjama suits may be a harder one to push commercially. However, McCartney’s one-shoulder and swirly edged dresses are sure to be a hit on the red carpets.
