Spring 11

The look Fierce, bold colours and sharp silhouettes underpinned by a retro 1960s tone had sophisticated sex appeal.

Key pieces An electric blue, fringed floor-length dress with a cutaway balconette-style neckline was seductive, while a pillar-box red, knee-length dress featured geometric deep-notched neckline. A lightning bolt cutaway running down the dress from waist to knee added interest.

Commercial appeal Mixed. The retro vibe felt at times like a designer in the 1960s trying to be futuristic, and the cutaways jarred slightly with the delicate nature of some dresses. Necklines were a focus though and should come through to contemporary eveningwear collections.

Footwear and accessories Nude vinyl sandals had a futuristic quality while longer red versions snaked up the leg.
