Spring 12

The look Versace’s sex appeal dived into the sea, with mermaid prints and seahorse studding.

Key pieces Skin-baring and body-con looks were central, with an assortment of mini dresses covered in studding and often featuring soft plissé panels.

High-waisted pencil skirts were also key, alongside bloomer shorts teamed with bra tops and neoprene bomber jackets. Red carpet-ready column gowns came with thigh-high splits and jewelled embellishment. Sea-themed motifs were used throughout, including seashell, starfish and seahorse studding as well as aquatic prints.

Colours Fresh lilac, mint and pale blue alongside white and black.

Commercial appeal With a strong prints trend coming through for spring 12, Versace joined the likes of Mary Katrantzou in pushing an underwater theme, which is sure to surface in more collections.
