Lingerie and nightwear brand Slenderella has acquired thermal underwear brand Chilprufe from supplier Manchester Hosiery, which went into administration last May.
Chilprufe will launch its first collection under Slenderella’s ownership for autumn 12 at trade show Moda at Birmingham’s NEC on February 19-21.
According to a spokeswoman for Slenderella, the relaunched Chilprufe collection will put an emphasis on natural fibres and include four styles of underwear and a range of pure cotton nightwear.
“We are looking for growth with the relaunch of this quality brand,” she said.
Slenderella chairman Gary Spendlove said the acquisition would attract export customers and distributors: “Chilprufe will feature in our plans to develop the Far East and American markets. The pound’s relative weakness has helped us increase export trade to 16% of the company’s turnover.
“The quality of our collections allows us to compete favourably with any international competition.”
Chilprufe joins the Slenderella portfolio which already includes the eponymous brand, Derbyshire-based lingerie brand Brettles, thermal underwear brand Verdonis, nightwear brand Walker Reid and satin nightwear brand Gaspe.
