Sportswear brand Fila Vintage has revisited its back catalogue for autumn 13 by reviving traditional menswear styles due to customer demand.
The brand has ditched the fashion-led chinos of recent seasons and reverted back to its roots using pieces from its archive.
“We’ve taken old designs and given them a new twist,” said senior designer Hayley Webster, who recently visited Fila’s museum in Biella, Italy, to gain inspiration for future designs.
The autumn 13 collection features pieces such as Fila’s iconic red and off-white track jacket, which has been given a modern update. Other styles include rollnecks and polo shirts, which are available in a range of colours to cater for different categories of stockists, whether they are traditional, sports or more trend-led retailers.
The brand has also been told by stockists that the vintage look is more in demand among shoppers. “When customers are saying we want more vintage product from you, then we have to listen really,” said Webster.
She added: “We’re hitting the market at the right time, with sportswear being really popular.”
Fila Vintage has also increased the mark-up for retailers, from 2.5 to 2.7.
