Gerry Weber

Spring 11

The collection Gerry Weber puts the emphasis on detail for spring 11. Long, draped cardigans are still widespread across the collection but have been modernised with panels in washable faux suede with eyelet detail. Leather is also back, with the waterfall-front jacket still popular, while new for spring is a line of sheer blouses with heritage-style prints. Two-in-one layered pieces are also key, but the shapes have moved on from previous seasons. Attention to detail is again paramount, with wide-neck jersey tops in Breton stripes sewn over plain blue vests. Selected pieces of knitwear are given a washed denim look with ruffle details on the neckline, while others come with denim panels and zip fronts. There are fewer repeats this season, making for a fresher collection. The brand has also introduced a shapewear option in its best-selling jeans style.

Howard Ross

Country manager UK and Republic of Ireland

“There’s more colour in the collection this season because we put pressure on Germany to bring it in for the UK market. The more casual Gerry Weber Editions collection has grown to 44% of business in the UK because people want soft, easy pieces. Autumn 09 was a difficult season for a lot of indies but they have done well with us. We’re doing OK because we’re stealing market share, but the market as a whole is flat.”
