High street preview: Asos womenswear autumn 15

The overarching catwalk trend for all things 1970s shines through at There is a military-inspired take on the look with wide-legged tweed trousers, tailored pea coats, suede belted dresses and a camouflage jacquard top, jacket and dress set.

A more bohemian and casual sub-trend borrows from the 1970s style of actress Farrah Fawcett. Suede appears throughout, particularly on a standout trench coat and a wrap-front sleeveless dress, alongside coloured fake fur and flared denim.

There is an all-out flamboyant take on 1970s glamour in the red carpet eveningwear collection, with over-embellished sequined maxi and shift dresses, long-sleeved velvet dresses and rock ‘n’ roll-inspired star-print versions.

A smaller trend focuses on a space-inspired look from the 1960s. A-line shift dresses have minimalist metallic embellishment, alongside sparkly Lurex roll-neck knits and contrasting use of fabrics, including fake pony hair and metallic fabric panels.
