High Street Preview Autumn 14: Dorothy Perkins

Pastels and jewel tones are blended with rich fabrics for a sophisticated collection.

Fabric, rather than print, is the main consideration for adding interest to key pieces, such as a faux-fur collarless jacket or an embossed metallic skirt. Lace tops add a vintage feel, as do flapper-style fringed dresses and jackets, while pastel-coloured fuzzy-textured boxy tops feel modern. When print does feature, it comes through via oversized florals or artistic splatter-effects.

Key colours include pale pink, soft baby blue, fuchsia and teal, which lift the greys that dominate separates such as skirts and blouses.

Boyfriend shapes are the focus for outerwear, such as an oversized pinstripe single-breasted blazer or a long-length single-breasted overcoat.
