A strong military theme invades Hobbs’ autumn collection, with epaulettes and shiny gold buttons used on dresses, knitwear and outerwear. Both the mainline and the younger NW3 sub-brand have embraced British heritage styling and fabrics, with tweed, waxed cotton and thick wool all featuring strongly.
Catwalk influences are adapted to fit the more mature handwriting of Hobbs, with intarsia knit leggings and jumpers and the fur trend translated via brushed shearling and goat-skin pieces. Suit jackets are long in the mainline and cropped in NW3. A muted palette of greys and camel is lifted with flashes of bright orange, pink or turquoise. NW3 shows playful influences with dog-shaped prints and jewel colours on printed silks and long girly cardigans.

Right for the market?
Hobbs is sticking to its strong countryside and heritage handwriting, with pieces to suit its core mature shopper as well as her daughter, who buys into NW3. The retailer has made sure its classic pieces are never boring by adding modern twists through exposed zips, studding or subtle military detail. Hobbs caters for cautious shoppers by giving them more for their money in adaptable pieces.
