John Rocha quits London Fashion Week

John Rocha will stop showing at London Fashion Week from September, after almost 30 years of featuring on the show calendar.

Rocha will continue creating his Designers at Debenhams collection, and will focus on his crystal and eyewear lines. The designer, who was named Designer of the Year at the British Fashion Awards in 1993, also said he would also work on new projects in architecture and interiors.

A John Rocha spokeswoman said there would be no redundancies at John Rocha’s Dublin-based studio as a result of the decision.

In a letter the eponymous designer wrote: “This has been a huge decision for me, and one to which I have given a great deal of thought, a decision filled with mixture of sadness and anticipation…However, I feel this is the right time, both professionally and personally, for me to move on to new things, to begin a new journey.”
