Colour and texture are key for both day and night at Karen Millen. Peacock blue, emerald green, turquoise, crimson, teal, and aubergine nod to this season’s rich colour palette inspired by Gucci’s autumn 11 collection. Materials such as lace, shearlings and faux fur add texture via lining, panelling and ruffles.
Although Karen Millen is loyal to its signature dresses for workwear and evenings, this season the collection has more separates, especially at the casual end of the range. There is an emphasis on flowing silhouettes in some shorter dress styles, rather than the structured and body-con satin pieces the retailer is known for. Androgynous influences are also evident in the form of skinny stretch trousers and leather biker-style jackets.
Outerwear makes a strong statement with coats in bold colours, and the biker jackets.
- Herringbone textured coat in peacock blue
- Pink and white lily-print stretch dress
- Masculine tailored waistcoat and trousers
- Ruffle-neck dress in damson
Right for the market?
Karen Millen customers like bold, statement pieces with structured styling, which comes through here. But the move towards less structured pieces and separates will also be popular.
