Literary autumn stylings from newcomer Alistair James

As its spring 17 debut collection launches at The Shop at Bluebird, new womenswear designer Alistair James has unveiled its autumn collection.

Founded by Nicholas Alistair Walsh and David James Wise, both of whom previously worked at Alexander McQueen, the brand focuses on a whimsical femininity alongside theatrical detailing. For autumn, this comes through in ruffled sheers, heavy floral brocades and dramatic, exaggerated silhouettes.

The autumn collection was inspired by the novels of the Bronte sisters, known for their haunting narratives in wild settings, and historical references appear as wispy white dresses and structured, almost corseted gowns.

Wholesale prices range from £55 for a T-shirt to £875 for gowns.
