London catwalks: Central Saint Martins MA graduate show

The latest womenswear and menswear graduates from London’s illustrious Central Saint Martins MA course took to the catwalk of London Fashion Week to unveil their final collections.

With alumni including some of Britain’s leading fashion names such as Christopher Kane, Jonathan Saunders, Craig Green and Simone Rocha, the Central Saint Martins MA graduate course is a hotbed for future talent and often the launchpad for new designers to watch.

Buyers and industry insiders were out in force. Machine A founder and buying director Stavros Karelis, told Drapers: “I think this has risen to become one of the most important shows of the season with absolutely everyone in attendance. If one wants to see who is the next big thing they only have to look at the graduates that have been selected to show.”

The L’Oréal Professionnel Creative Award for best collection, which was this year judged by journalist Iain R Webb, was split between Gabriele Lukas’s demure collection of elevated knitwear, and Stefan Cooke’s transforming trompe l’œil textiles.

Other highlights included Li Gong’s shrunken knitwear, Gabriella Sardena’s fantastically fun fabric explosions, and Tom Guy’s delicate eveningwear.
