The mood of this collection was described by YMC as ‘carefree holiday dressing’ and that’s exactly what it was.
This debut catwalk collection could have been used as an excuse to push the brand in a different direction, but the signature modern and functional elements happily remained. Early 1960s West Coast surf culture and late 1980s casuals were the inspirations with cropped chinos, takes on the Harrington jacket and softly structured blazers. There was a riot of print ranging from bold stripes and Madras check, to leopard and subtle florals inspired by kimono prints.
In short Classic YMC meets 1960s West Coast – preppy with a laid-back twist.
All very accessible.
