What do you come to LFW expecting to find?
I do go into every fashion week with some expectations, and with London I’m expecting creativity and newness. Each city throws up something different, but London is definitely all about newness and creativity. I’m excited to here. Absolutley, London is such an exciting city. There’s always something happening, someone bubbling up, I’d hate to miss it, I’d hate to miss anything. That’s how you make informed decisions, by going out and seeing everything.
What did you think of today at LFW?
It’s been really busy, with lots of good press and good buyers about. But ping ponging around town is always difficult. Although it is exciting to be one minute in a church, then in a studio, then next to the canal – you go to all these amazing spaces in London, which really adds to the experience.
Which shows stood out?
I saw Preen by Thornton Bregazzi this morning and thought it was great. I like them very much. I like the very English, very London sensibility and design references. It was all inspired by Goth and skinheads and all the British subcultures over the years. And I really like that – I’m a London girl born and bred, so that really resonates.

And Peter Pilotto – it was gorgeous. They’re on a roll at the moment. It was very wearable but very pretty, good colours, interesting use of fabrics and textures. I like what they’re doing very much.
I thought Simone Rocha was lovely on day two – I can remember clearly the white cotton poplin and checks and florasl. It’s a good thing when a collection really sticks in your head like that. You see so many collections over the season, so the ones that stick out like that are the really good ones and will be the ones that stand out to the consumer, too.

Marc Jacobs was also great in New York, he always puts a smile on face.
Are there any new or emerging brands that have stood out?
I thought Fashion East was exciting yesterday. I’m always happy to be there. Richard Molone was great and all three offer something very different.

What trends are emerging this season?
I think I’ve seen a lot of pastel colours, lots of pale pinks and pale blues. The dress is very important still, which is great as this is the spring and summer season. Flat shoes are still very strong and make things look really modern.
