Men’s young fashion brand Luke is set to expand internationally as it looks to compensate for a slowdown in sales in the UK.
Managing director Simon Poole said: “After five years of 30% to 40% seasonal increases in turnover and fantastic growth, we started to notice a slowdown in the UK around February or March last year; it started to get harder for our customers, mostly economy-driven but the weather had a major part to play in the continued slowdown.”
The brand, which is already trading in Singapore and the US, is about to sign a deal with a Japanese distributor. Luke is also setting its sights on Russia, Korea and Canada, where it is looking for distributors, licensors and retail partners.
The Middle East has also been flagged up as important to the brand, with plans to sign a deal in Qatar next month. Luke will also launch into France and Italy for spring 13.
