Ian Wright says no man should be ashamed of wielding a man bag when it’s a Mismo one.

It’s one of man’s most challenging conundrums; well, as far as fashion goes anyway. How does a man find a happy bag medium the right side of ‘man bag’? Well Danish brand Mismo might just have the answer.

One way for guys to dismiss the dilemma is to go premium, and that’s where Mismo comes in with a raft of bags and other accoutrements that benefit from a finely honed sense of Scandinavian design. The aesthetic is clean but warm and charming, the pieces having just enough character so as to stand out but without going so far as to be too mucked about with.

The collection comprises a core range, some occasionally reworked, others left as classics, on which the design team build seasonal additions, all constructed from either full-grain leather or fabric in the form of canvas and nylon. For spring 13, navy has been added to the leather colour line-up but it is with both the fabric and seasonal collections where the brand has expanded most.

The fabric line sees the introduction of five new styles called rugged man names like Adventurer, Urban and Groom, which are available in a bevy of cuoio leather-trimmed coated and uncoated canvas and nylon, in colours such as mustard, ocean and anthracite (man talk for purple). Grrr.

For the range showing at Paris trade show Capsule this week the brand has concentrated on fabric construction too. Chief executive and founder Adam Alexander Bach says the “seasonal collection is strong for spring 13”, explaining there are “five new styles and two reintroductions”.

And that’s the beauty of Mismo. Using tip-top leathers and sticking to the pared-back aesthetic means the products, from lowly wallet to mighty holdall, will stand the test of time.
