Lily-print, sheer palazzo trousers and sleek maxi dresses sit alongside loose-fit blouses with cutaway shoulder detail for spring 11 at
Miss Selfridge. Vintage-style embellishment is restrained rather than used all over garments and the palette is feminine and neutral.
Sheer and ethereal chiffons are employed on blouses, while wide-leg trousers come in a light-weight cotton, giving a relaxed feel to this accomplished collection. An interesting, knife-pleated calf-length dress also features.
- Lily-print palazzo pants
- High-neck, calf-length dress
- Pink sleeveless top with cotton appliqué trim
Right for the market?
This is the most accomplished collection to date produced by Miss Selfridge creative director Yasmin Yusuf and her team. The ubiquitous 1970s trend, sheer fabrics, crocheting and vintage embellishment have played straight into the hands of the young fashion chain for spring 11.
Miss Selfridge has backed the maxi dress for spring 11, but has also backed a calf-length dress silhouette with gusto.
When Yusuf joined Miss Selfridge in 2006 she immediately set about honing the retailer’s handwriting and giving it a vintage direction.
Her extensive archive at Arcadia Group headquarters is the envy of every high street designer and she has put it to good use this season.
