Spring 11

The collection Safari and rock ‘n’ roll styles lead the way at Olsen with muted animal prints on slash-neck knitwear and cowl-neck jersey, teamed with camel and taupe trousers or skinny jeans. Slim-leg cargo pants are here too, with a satin finish as an alternative to stretch cotton. Most trousers and skirt styles have a directional or more classic option. Camel trousers, for example, are available in a classic, straight cut or a new tapered shape. T-shirts feature

worn-effect prints and crystal embellishment, with some available in a dip-dye-effect gradiated colour. Boyfriend blazers have asymmetric pockets and contrast linings. There is a lot of layering of matching pieces - a two-in-one piece has a vest sewn into an open twist-fronted tunic and can be layered with a long jersey cardigan. Lilac and blush highlight the slate, khaki and cream palette. Detail is subtle with small ruffles on shirt fastenings and pin tucks on necklines.

Brand Comment

Claire Simmons Sales manager

“We have a lot more shirts this season and the cotton-stretch style is very popular. Buyers are still being cautious and have definitely re-evaluated all their brands. We are getting more contemporary indies making appointments as the collection evolves, but it’s mainly been updated for core stockists - a lot of them are trialling a few of the more modern pieces because consumers have asked for them.”
